Founded 1901 as The Rockefeller Institute for Medical Research, affiliated with the University of the State of New York 1954, and acquired present title 1965. A postgraduate institution of study and research at the highest level. The University's structure is built around the research interests of individual scientists, who are designated Laboratory Heads.
